The State of California issued a formal Declaration of Regret for its discriminatory laws and practices against Chinese Americans, laws which remained on the books from the 1870s to the 1940s. The Chinese Exclusion Act restricted immigration and prevented Chinese immigrants from ever becoming US Citizens, including children of Chinese immigrants born in the USA. A clear violation of the 14th amendment, but too bad so sad!
